LIMA, Ohio - The State Employment Relations Board will be asked to certify the decision of Allen County sheriff's deputies and corrections officers to be represented by the International Union of Police Association.
The 48-21 vote, taken last week, will end the deputies' association with the Fraternal Order of Police, Ohio Labor Council. One vote was cast for no representation.
Deputies and corrections officers will continue working under the old contract until an agreement between the union and city can be reached.
Meanwhile, clerks and clerical staff members of the sheriff's office will vote again because the group failed to cast enough votes to determine whether a different union would represent them.
