Two injured when car collides with ambulance

OAK HARBOR - An ambulance on an emergency run was involved in an accident that injured two people.

Mid-County EMS of Oak Harbor was transporting Mary Rudes, 84, of Oak Harbor to Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton on Tuesday night when it tried to pass an eastbound car on State Rt. 163. The ambulance had its emergency lights and siren on.

The driver of the eastbound car, Judy Mattingly, 22, of Marblehead, was turning left on Leutz Road without realizing the ambulance was trying to pass her.

Ms. Rudes was in fair condition yesterday while Ms. Mattingly was treated for minor injuries.
