0.75% tax proponents to kick off campaign drive

Citizens for 3/4 % will kick off the campaign for renewal of the 3/4 percent Toledo payroll tax at 2 p.m. today outside fire station one, at the corner of Huron and Beech streets.

The tax, which will appear on the November general election ballot as Issue 6, generates $51.3 million annually, about 29 percent of the city's annual general fund budget.

The revenue funds city services such as fire and police protection, street improvements, and demolition of abandoned buildings.
