FREMONT - Sandusky County sheriff's deputies were searching last night for a man who disappeared from a group home near Burgoon.
Charlie Murphy, 65, was reported missing from the home on County Road 13 yesterday morning. He disappeared sometime between 11 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. yesterday.
Authorities said Mr. Murphy has moderate mental retardation and suffers from health conditions, including diabetes, that require daily medication. Without his medication, he could become disoriented, weak, and aggressive, according to the Sandusky County Board of Mental Retardation.
He is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, with blue-gray eyes and gray hair. He has a slow, shuffling walk and a slight tremble in his hands.
The search was being assisted by Bettsville fire and EMS crews, the Kansas volunteer fire department, a Fremont police K-9 dog, and an Ohio Highway Patrol helicopter.
