Toledo driver still in serious condition

A Toledo man remained in serious condition yesterday in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center with injuries suffered when his car hit a railroad overpass abutment in the 1700 block of West Bancroft Street, authorities said.

Scott L. Harris, 18, of Brown Avenue, had to be extricated from the wreckage, police said. He was westbound on West Bancroft about 7:15 p.m. Monday when his car went off the right side of the road, returned to the road, and then hit the abutment head on, police said.

Police did not know why Mr. Harris' car left the road. He was not wearing a seat belt and was driving with a temporary license, police said.
