JUNCTION, Ohio - A boater is missing after a vessel capsized early yesterday on the Auglaize River a few miles east of Junction, according to Paulding County sheriff's deputies.
Deputies received a report around 3:15 a.m. that the boat had overturned in the river north of the State Rt. 637 bridge. Four occupants of the boat were able to swim safely to shore, but a fifth person is missing.
Deputies declined to name any of the boaters.
An Allen County dive team and helicopter were dispatched to the scene. Rescue efforts continued throughout yesterday. Officials of the Ohio Division of Water Craft are leading the investigation.
Authorities said they did not know what the boat was doing on the river at that time of the night.
