Vermilion motorcyclist dies after hitting car on U.S. 20

NORWALK - A Vermilion, Ohio, man died late Sunday in a motorcycle-car accident in Huron County, about three miles east of Norwalk, Ohio Highway Patrol troopers said.

Russell Tyree, 32, was eastbound on U.S. 20 about 11:30 p.m. when his motorcycle collided with a car driven by Rebecca Nichols, 40, of Wakeman, Ohio, who was northbound on DeRussey Road.

Mr. Tyree was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Nichols and a passenger on the Tyree motorcycle, Margaret Kuhn, 27, of Vermilion, were in serious condition last night at Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Troopers said Ms. Nichols ran the stop sign at Derussey and Mr. Tyree struck her car's passenger side. Both vehicles went off the north side of U.S. 20. Neither Mr. Tyree nor Ms. Kuhn was wearing a helmet, and Ms. Nichols was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said. The accident is under investigation by Norwalk post troopers.
