FREMONT - The Sandusky County commissioners opened bids yesterday for construction of a 36-bed juvenile detention center.
The combined lowest bids totaled $3.68 million, coming in below the project estimate of $3.8 million. The apparent low bidders include Wilson Builders, Inc., of Toledo, general contractor, $2,495,000; Industrial Power Systems of Toledo, plumbing, heating, and cooling, $542,300; S.A. Comunale Co. of Fremont, fire protection equipment, $84,730; Lake Erie Electric of Bowling Green, electrical system, $411,000. and Integrator.com, Inc., of Noblesville, Ind., security system, $155,000.
The commissioners took the bids under review and expect to award contracts within a few weeks. The county hopes to start construction in August and have the facility completed within a year.
