West Nile detected in Putnam County bird

The blue jay was discovered near Leipsic on May 28. Bill Edwards of the Putnam County Health Department said the county was told last week of the positive test.

Officials began to worry about seeing the mosquito-transmitted virus last year when birds in Henry County began testing positive. Allen County has sent several birds to the state, but so far none has tested positive.
