Prosecutor's brother pleads not guilty to falsification

SANDUSKY - The brother of Erie County Prosecutor Kevin Baxter pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges that he disseminated false statements about the prosecutor.

Edward Baxter, 54, entered the plea to 81 felony counts of extortion, intimidation, and falsification during an arraignment before Magistrate Nancy Dellisanti in Erie County Common Pleas Court.

Edward Baxter, who appeared with his attorney, Leonard Yelsky of Cleveland, is accused of using documents to falsely accuse his brother of criminal activity.

A trial, which will be heard by a yet-to-be-named visiting judge, was tentatively scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 23.
