Marblehead couple unhurt in plane crash
PORT CLINTON - A Marblehead couple escaped injury yesterday when their single-engine plane crash-landed at Erie-Ottawa Regional Airport, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Phyllis Cermak, 65, who was operating a Piper PA-24 Comanche, and Warren Cermak, 69, who was his wife's passenger, were not hurt, troopers said.
The plane was attempting to land at the airport at 2:29 p.m. when Mrs. Cermak apparently misjudged the approach distance. The plane landed abruptly damaging the landing gear, wings, and propeller.
The Federal Aviation Administration was investigating the crash, the patrol said.
