Swanton council OKs land sale measure to make way for golf course

Swanton Village Council this week approved the final measure to make way for the land sale developers say they need for the long proposed The Golf Course at Saddlehorn.

Developers Jim and Linda Cannaley are to give the village $50,000 and a 40-foot strip along the north edge of the village water reservoir in Swanton Township in exchange for eight to 10 acres that the village owns west of the reservoir. The village wants the northern strip for access to the reservoir.

The motion passed 5-1 with councilman Jim Pilliod voting no, as he has on most issues involving the proposed golf course.
