Car explodes after striking tree; Delphos woman dies

FORT JENNINGS, Ohio — A 40-year-old Delphos, Ohio, woman was killed Friday when her car exploded after hitting a tree at State Rt. 190 and Putnam County Road U-20 in Jennings Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Barbara E. Kent was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers at the patrol's Lima post said.

She was driving westbound on U-20 about 9:30 p.m. when she failed to stop for a stop sign at Route 190.

Her car became airborne and went over a creek before hitting the tree, troopers said.
