Boarder, 31, denies he strangled landlady, 71

KENTON, Ohio - A Hardin County man charged with strangling a Mount Victory village council member pleaded not guilty yesterday in Hardin County Common Pleas Court to aggravated murder and 18 other charges.

Scott Mosbacker, 31, of Mount Victory, is charged with killing Evangeline Bealer, 71, who was found dead in her home Oct. 24 by a neighbor.

Police say Mr. Mosbacker, a boarder at Ms. Bealer's home, killed her, then stole some checks and her van.

Judge David Faulkner appointed attorneys Brad Bailey and Gary Fishman to represent Mr. Mosbacker and continued his bond at $100,000.
