LIMA, Ohio - A Lima woman accused of running down her neighbor with her car pleaded not guilty yesterday to two new charges stemming from the fatal incident.
Leesa Davenport, 41, was to have faced trial in Allen County Common Pleas Court last month for aggravated vehicular homicide, but prosecutors asked that the charge be dismissed after new evidence was discovered.
Ms. Davenport's case was presented again to an Allen County grand jury last week, and she was indicted for both voluntary manslaughter and aggravated vehicular homicide stemming from the death of Vicky DeWitt, 42. Ms. Davenport is free on bond.
Police said the two got into an argument July 17 outside their homes and Ms. Davenport ran over Ms. DeWitt with her car. Ms. DeWitt died Aug. 26 from head injuries sustained in the episode.
