ADRIAN —A Lenawee County corrections officer has been charged with two misdemeanor counts after being accused of sneaking contraband into the county jail.
Ryan Chad Kaufman, 22, was arrested Wednesday and suspended without pay for allegedly smuggling tobacco products into the jail and for violating his oath of office. Lenawee County District Court Judge Natalia Koselka released Mr. Kaufman on his own recognizance and scheduled a pretrial hearing for March 20.
He will face an interdepartmental hearing today to determine whether he keeps his job.
