Girl, 16, seriously injured in Bloom Township crash

JERRY CITY, Ohio — A Wood County girl was in serious condition yesterday after a collision in Bloom Township that injured five other people.

Kimberly Young, 16, of Wayne was taken by helicopter to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, after the crash, which occurred at 5:08 p.m. Thursday. Kimberly was a passenger in a minivan driven by Cathy Young, 38, of Wayne.

According to the Wood County sheriff's office, Mrs. Young was southbound on Huffman Road and failed to yield for a stop sign at Cygnet Road. Her vehicle was struck by an eastbound car driven by Joshua Pearce, 22, of Risingsun.

Mr. Pearce, Mrs. Young, and three other children in her vehicle — Ryan Young, 14; Lincoln Young, 9, and Catherine Young, 3 — were treated for injuries at Wood County Hospital. No citations had been filed yesterday.
