Smoking banned in buildings, vehicles

Township employees will have to keep their butts out of township buildings and township-owned vehicles beginning July 1.

By unanimous vote last week, township trustees amended the smoking policy to include a ban on all tobacco products in all township buildings and vehicles.

In the past, smoking was prohibited in township buildings with the exception of the lounge for firefighters.

That area is now included, and township vehicles were added too, said Trustee Barbara Gunn.

Township officials have received some complaints at times from nonsmokers, she said.
