Troopers joined Lenawee County sheriff's deputies in the safety crackdown Thursday and issued 72 citations over seven hours. Violations included speeding, failure to use seat belts, and running red lights.
Lt. Steven Farrell of the state police said the enforcement effort was conducted in response to a recent survey of county residents.
In the survey, citizens expressed concern about motorists speeding, passing improperly, and following too closely on the heavily traveled highway.
