BURGOON, Ohio — A father and son were killed Wednesday night, and two people were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash just east of Burgoon in Sandusky County, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Nelson Friar, 51, of Fremont and his son, Nathan, 14, were pronounced dead in Memorial Hospital, Fremont. Jeffrey Stover, 47, of Tiffin, and his wife, Nancy, 48, were listed in critical condition yesterday in the same hospital.
Troopers in Fremont said Mr. Friar was eastbound at 11:20 p.m. on Sandusky County Road 13 when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by Mr. Stover's pickup, which was southbound on State Rt. 590.
Both vehicles went off the southeast corner of the intersection. Mr. Friar's vehicle continued on, striking a traffic sign and later catching on fire.
All occupants were wearing their seatbelts, troopers said. The accident remains under investigation.
