Evergreen to vote in Nov. on income tax
METAMORA, Ohio - Voters in the Evergreen Local School District will see a 0.5 percent, three-year income tax on the Nov. 4 ballot, the school board decided unanimously Monday.
The proposed levy, which Treasurer Linda Kidwell said is needed to avoid a deficit in the 2004-05 school year, would raise an estimated $600,000 a year.
The board also approved a one-year contract with 81 teachers in the Evergreen Education Association. The contract eliminates a teacher workday, but keeps salaries the same - a range of $26,750 to $55,255 - and increases the amount teachers contribute to their health insurance premiums.
