Motorcyclist hits fence, suffers critical injuries

LIMA, Ohio — A 19-year-old man was injured Thursday afternoon when he lost control of his motorcycle on a curve along Seriff Road in Shawnee Township, a mile west of Lima.

Christopher Nance was in critical condition yesterday at St. Rita's Medical Center.

Shawnee Township police said Mr. Nance was southbound on Seriff Road, halfway between West Elm Street and State Rt. 117, about 2 p.m. when he veered off the right side of the roadway. His motorcycle hit a tall chain-link fence that surrounds an old landfill, police said.

Mr. Nance was wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation.
