2-car crash kills nun in Monroe

MONROE - A Monroe nun was killed Wednesday when she pulled out of a private drive and into the path of an car, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.

Sister May Teichman, 73, of the Sisters, Servants, Immaculate Heart of Mary in Monroe, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 2:45 p.m. along North Monroe Street in front of the Frenchtown Square Mall.

David Harrison, 17, of Carleton, Mich., the driver of the other car, was treated at Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe.

Deputies said Sister May was turning left from a private drive onto southbound North Monroe and collided with Mr. Harrison's northbound auto.
