Jail escapee caught at ex-girlfriend's home

A 29-year-old man who walked away from a work site Nov. 8 while serving a jail sentence at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio in Stryker was captured Saturday at a for|mer girlfriend's Toledo apartment.

Anthony Bugaj remained in the Lucas County jail yesterday after he was arrested about 6 p.m. at 517 Bates Rd. He had been incarcerated at CCNO on a domestic violence offense.

Police responded to a call about someone burglarizing an apartment at the Bates address. When police arrived, authorities said they saw Bugaj inside the apartment.

Bugaj fled into the backyard but was confronted by another officer and a fight ensued. Three officers were able to restrain Bugaj and arrest him.

Bugaj and two of the officers were treated at St. Vincent Mer|cy Medical Center for minor injuries before he was booked into the Lucas County jail.
