An award-winning mock trial team from Perrysburg Municipal Court's Explorer Post No. 2306 has qualified to compete in the state mock trial finals March 11-13 at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
During the recent mock trial district competition at the Wood County Common Pleas Court, members of the court's Explorer Post placed first and second against other teams from Archbold and the Penta Career Center.
More than 3,000 students representing about 250 teams vied in 29 district competitions across the state; the top 48 teams advanced to Columbus.
Team members from the Perrysburg court's Explorer group spent weeks preparing their cases, working with Municipal Court Judge S. Dwight Osterud and local attorney John Donahue. Participants were scored on creativity and persuasiveness.
