According to the Sandusky post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by Roger Loose, 39, of Fremont was waiting to turn left from westbound Route 2 into a driveway at 12:46 p.m. when a westbound semi tractor-trailer driven by Michael Hunter, 36, of Chatham, Ont., failed to stop and struck the pickup from behind.
A passenger in Mr. Loose's pickup, Tesia Ewing, 37, of Fremont was taken by helicopter to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals for treatment of incapacitating injuries, according to the highway patrol. No condition was available for Ms. Ewing last night.
Mr. Loose and another passenger in his vehicle, Gary Lafferty, 41, of Fremont were treated at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton. Mr. Hunter, who was unhurt, was cited for failure to stop within an assured clear distance ahead, the highway patrol said.
