Sheriff probes death of Monroe bicyclist, 45

MONROE - Authorities are continuing their investigation into the death of a 45-year-old Monroe woman in a bicycle-truck accident Friday afternoon.

Jean Engle was westbound on her 10-speed bicycle on a sidewalk along South Custer Road about 4:30 p.m. when she lost control of her bike and rode onto South Custer, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.

She fell from her bike and was hit by an eastbound truck driven by Dennis Curry, 67, of Monroe.

Ms. Engle was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
