Record number take part in reading program

The Toledo-Lucas County Public Library yesterday announced that its annual Summer Reading Club enjoyed record participation this summer, up more than 10 percent from last year.

Nearly 21,000 readers, from preschool to adults, signed up for the club, an increase of 1,910 over last year.

The club is divided into pre-school through eighth grade, teenage, and adult reading groups. Titled "Read, Explore, and Discover," the program encouraged people to read 15 minutes a day.
