Mansfield driver hurt in crash near Monroe

MONROE - A Mansfield, Ohio, woman was hurt in a collision at LaPlaisance and Dunbar roads about 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, the Michigan State Police said.

Melissa Waters, who police said was in her mid-20s, was listed in serious condition last night at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.

Police said Ms. Waters was northbound on LaPlaisance when she attempted to turn left onto Dunbar, colliding with a pickup driven by Jean Wright, 59, of Monroe, who was southbound on LaPlaisance.

Kristen McGough, 22, of Port Huron, Mich., a passenger in Ms. Waters' car, was listed in stable condition at Mercy Memorial Hospital.

Ms. Wright and her husband, Glenn Emerson, 54, a passenger, were taken to Mercy Memorial Hospital, as was Mary McGough, 19, of Port Huron, a passenger in Ms. Waters' vehicle, police said.

Hospital officials said they had no listing for either of those patients.
