Lake Township trustees, during a special meeting Tuesday, agreed unanimously to enter into a contract with FirstEnergy Solutions of Akron to extend their consumer electric aggregation agreement three years.
The extension will run from 2006 to 2008, and residents can expect to see a 15 percent discount on the generation portion of their bills. That will equal about 5 percent off the total electric bill, or a savings of $50 a year for the average homeowner, Trustee Richard Welling said.
He said the discount applies only to residents living in the unincorporated areas of Lake Township who did not opt out of the aggregation program. The discount does not apply to residents of Walbridge and Millbury.
