FINDLAY A University of Findlay professor who visited Southeast Asia after the Dec. 26 tsunami as part of a geological research team will present a free lecture on the aftermath of the disaster Thursday.
Dr. Yevgeniy Kontar, adjunct professor of geology and an expert on oceanography and hydrogeology, visited Southeast Asia with scientists from Thailand, the Philippines, the United States, Russia, and Japan to study the waves impact on aquifers and ground water.
During his presentation, he will discuss the tsunami and how to reduce the effects of such natural disasters. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be at 4 p.m. at the Martin Lecture Hall in the Brewer Science Building.
