Crash hurts man, boy from Gibsonburg

FREMONT - Two people from Gibsonburg were hurt seriously yesterday in a two-vehicle head-on collision on Sandusky County Road 128 at County Road 65, west of Fremont, after a motorist tried to pass on the two-lane road, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Kyle Angelone, 29, driver of one of the vehicles, and Reed Zipfel, 10, a passenger in the other vehicle, were flown to St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Mr. Angelone was in fair condition; the child's condition was not available.

Mr. Angelone was driving his pickup south about 7 a.m. when he attempted to pass a southbound car and struck an oncoming northbound car, troopers at the patrol's Fremont post said.

The child was a passenger in a car driven by his mother, Michelle Zipfel, 33, who needed to be extricated from the vehicle.

She refused treatment so she could join her son at the hospital, troopers said.

The accident remains under investigation.
