Petitioners fall short for Sunday alcohol sales

NAPOLEON - Supporters of Sunday morning alcohol sales at Moose Lodge 788 in Napoleon failed to turn in enough valid petitions to put the issue before voters in May.

Three petitions turned in to the Henry County Board of Elections had more than one name with the same signature, elections officials ruled shortly before Thursday's filing deadline. That invalidated all three petitions.

Supporters needed 81 signatures to put on the ballot in Napoleon's 4th Precinct the question of allowing alcohol sales at the lodge between 10 a.m. and noon Sundays.
