BLOOMDALE, Ohio - A North Baltimore man was killed yesterday after he apparently failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle just north of this southern Wood County village.
Ronald Smith, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in his car, Carol Winover, 48, of North Baltimore was taken by air ambulance to Medical College of Ohio Hospitals, Toledo, where she was in fair condition.
According to Wood County sheriff's deputies, Mr. Smith was eastbound on Stearns Road about 9:45 a.m. when he failed to stop for the stop sign at Bloomdale Road and collided with a southbound car driven by Joseph Gill, 20, of Bloomdale. Mr. Gill was treated in Wood County Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation.
