ODOT inspector struck by vehicle in Sylvania

An Ohio Department of Transportation worker was hit by a vehicle yesterday at the northbound U.S. 23 exit ramp at Monroe Street in Sylvania, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was treated at Flower Hospital, police said.

The accident, which occurred about 8:45 a.m., was under investigation. Police released no further information.

Joe Rutherford, an ODOT spokesman, refused to divulge the name and condition of the man, who was conducting a bridge inspection.
