Perrysburg Township looks into theft of checks

Perrysburg Township police are investigating a series of thefts of checks from local businesses.

Checks were reported stolen during the last week from Cousino Construction, 26901 Eckel Rd.; Welded Construction Co., 26933 Eckel; M.H.B.C. Inc., 27475 Holiday Lane, and Saro Trucking Inc., 26180 Glenwood Rd.

More than 70 checks were stolen from the businesses, and some of the stolen checks already have been cashed for more than $3,500.

A fifth company was broken into, but police are unsure if any items are missing from the Spieker Co., 8350 Fremont Pike.

The thefts at Cousino Construction and Welded Construction appear to be related, police said, and officials are investigating possible connections to the other crimes.
