Waterville man, 87, dies, couple hurt in collision
An 87-year-old Waterville man was killed and a Temperance couple were injured seriously yesterday when a car and a pickup collided at State Rt. 295 and Neowash Road in Lucas County s Providence Township, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
John Wilson, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers at the patrol s Toledo post said.
Glennadine Reed, 70, the driver of the pickup truck, and Daniel D. Reed, 74, her husband and the only passenger in the pickup, were thrown from the vehicle, troopers said.
They were admitted in critical condition to Toledo Hospital, a hospital spokesman said.
Mr. Wilson was driving east on Neowash, and the Reed pickup was southbound on Route 295 about 4:45 p.m. when the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
It was unclear last night whether Mr. Wilson stopped at the stop sign posted on Neowash at the state route, where the Reeds had the right of way, troopers said.
