State officials said yesterday they are seeking the public's help in tracking down 25 bundles of firewood that were sold recently to customers at an Ace Hardware store in Norton, Ohio, near Akron.
The firewood in question is believed to be ash from a county in Indiana under an emerald ash borer quarantine.
If the logs are infested, the people who bought them may unknowingly be spreading the pest, the Ohio Department of Agriculture said.
Anyone who purchased firewood from that store after Aug. 2 is asked to call the department's toll-free hotline, 1-888-OHIO-EAB.
