Toledo motorcyclist was seriously hurt when an intoxicated Oregon man drove the wrong way onto the I-75 north downtown exit ramp and hit him, police said yesterday.
William Duvall, 44, of 1823 North Erie St., was in serious condition in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. Gregory Gwozdz, 36, was charged with aggravated vehicular assault. He was being held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
Mr. Gwozdz drove the wrong way onto the ramp from South Erie at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, and his car collided head-on with Mr. Duvall s motorcycle. Mr. Duvall, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the bike, police said.
Mr. Gwozdz failed two field sobriety tests and twice did not blow correctly into a tube during a breath test at the jail, police said.
