Motorcyclist is killed in collision

MONROE - A Westland, Mich., man was killed yesterday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup on Telegraph Road, south of Hurd Road, in Frenchtown Township, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.

Roger W. Jachim, 65, who was thrown from the motorcycle and was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. He was southbound on Telegraph at 3:20 p.m. when he collided with a pickup towing a low-boy trailer northbound on Telegraph. Miquedes Villarreal, 30, of Monroe, the driver of the pickup, wasn't hurt.

Deputies are still investigating what caused the collision.
