Bequest to aid Wood County library system

BOWLING GREEN - A retired Bowling Green State University professor who was heavily involved with the Wood County District Public Library left a portion of her estate to the library.

Director Elaine Paulette said the library had received an initial bequest of $60,000 from the estate of Lorrene L. Ort, but that two more checks could be forthcoming. The money will be used to establish the Lorrene Love Ort Collection, and the library plans to use interest from her bequest to purchase books.

Ms. Ort retired in 1977 from BGSU where she directed the college of education's student-teacher program.

As a member of the Wood County Retired Teachers Association, she served as liaison to the library, overseeing the group's annual donation of funds to the library for the purchase of memorial books honoring teachers who died during the year.
