FOSTORIA With a show of support from commissioners, sheriffs, and prosecutors from three counties, the city is hoping for good things to come from a proposal to hire a deputy from Wood, Seneca, and Hancock counties to work exclusively in Fostoria.
Officials met with the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation yesterday to talk about how the foundation s proposal to raise enough money to hire the three deputies for five years would work.
Fostoria, which is situated in a portion of the three counties, has struggled financially in recent years, prompting a drop in its police manpower from 28 officers to 21.
The foundation s goal is to raise at least $150,000 a year to fund the proposal.
