Wauseon firm to pay $10,000 fine
WAUSEON - Multi-Cast Corp. has agreed to pay a $10,000 fine to settle air pollution violations the federal government filed last summer against its secondary aluminum production plant here.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the agreement yesterday.
The violations stem from the company's failure to test for cancer-causing dioxins and furans at the plant's 12 aluminum-melting furnaces. The company also failed to notify the federal EPA of its compliance status as well as labeling and reporting requirements, the agency said.
The violations were found during a facility inspection March 10. The company was cited in June, the EPA said.
