Families needing help paying this winter's home heating bills will have more time to access money through the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP.
The deadline for the program, administered through the Economic Opportunity Planning Association of Greater Toledo Inc., has been extended until April 28. HEAP will continue accepting applications for assistance of up to $175 on regulated heating and electric bills and up to $450 on bulk fuel bills until the extended deadline ends.
Residents must qualify for assistance through HEAP, and their income must fall below a maximum income level.
Those needing help should call the 24-hour appointment hotline at 1-866-504-7392. The hotline will give customers information on what they should bring to the appointment, including an appointment confirmation number.
