A North Toledo woman died yesterday after she was hit by a car as she crossed a south-end road, police said.
Gloria Greer, 63, of 3518 Mayo St., was pronounced dead at the Medical University of Ohio Medical Center about 30 minutes after the accident in the 3400 block of Glendale Avenue, police said.
She was walking across Glendale, not in a crosswalk, when she was hit by a westbound car driven by Jeffery Gerber, 40, of 1609 Charmaine Drive, about 6:20 a.m., Officer Curtis Jewell said.
Police believe she rode a TARTA bus from her home to a nearby bus stop and was walking to work at Foundation Park Alzheimer's Care Center on South Byrne Road when the accident occurred. Mr. Gerber, who was on his way to work in Michigan, didn't see Ms. Greer until it was too late and stopped as soon as he could, the officer said.
Mr. Gerber was not hurt.
