The construction-related closing of westbound Cherry Street at Erie Street and other lane closings at Cherry and Erie have been extended through Friday, the city transportation division announced yesterday.
Along with the closing of westbound Cherry, eastbound Cherry is restricted to one lane, Erie is restricted to one lane, and right turns from Erie to eastbound Cherry are banned during a water-line installation.
All lanes had been scheduled to reopen yesterday.
Officials blamed underground utility conflicts and late delivery of materials to the construction site for the delay.
A posted detour route uses Summit and Jackson streets and Spielbusch Avenue. Lagrange Street between Summit and Greenbelt Parkway is another alternate route.
