Whitehouse woman dead after collision

A Whitehouse woman died yesterday after a two-car crash at U.S. 20A and Albon Road in Monclova Township.

Susan Walters, 49, who was northbound on Albon Road in a 1996 Chevrolet Lumina, was pronounced dead in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, where she was taken by air ambulance after the crash that occurred at 7:30 a.m.

Police said Lance Sowell, 39, of 3649 Mapleway Drive, Toledo, who was eastbound on U.S. 20A in a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue, failed to stop for a red light and struck the Walters vehicle broadside. He was taken to Medical University of Ohio Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to troopers with the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. Mr. Sowell was not wearing a seat belt; Ms. Walters was wearing a seat belt.
