Lake Township trustees settled on a new fire chief at last night's special meeting, just six days after the former chief resigned for personal reasons.
Trustees voted unanimously to hire Eric Larson to replace Michael Buzza after meeting for 30 minutes in executive session.
Mr. Larson, 47, of Bowling Green is director of Wood County's Emergency Management Agency. He will be the only full-time employee in the fire department, which has about 75 part-time volunteer firefighters, and will be paid $52,000 a year.
Mr. Buzza of Walbridge was chosen as the full-time chief in September and resigned June 6.
Before trustees hired Mr. Buzza, they had been without a fire chief for about a year while going through the hiring process.
