Old Newsboys charity installs new officer slate

The Old Newsboys Goodfellow Association, which raises money to buy coats and shoes for needy schoolchildren, recently installed its officers.

They are Bill Sanford, president; Mike Bell, first vice president; Laurie Renz, second vice president; Pat Markland, third vice president; Tedd Long, fourth vice president; Jim Melms, treasurer; Jay Gast, secretary; Greg Loeb, corresponding secretary; Dick Buchholz, historian; Jeff Zimmerman, sergeant-at-arms; Dave Hendricks, assistant sergeant-at-arms; Bill Glisczinski, chaplain; Stan Czerminski, policy chairman, and Bob Standriff, executive secretary.

The Old Newsboys is sponsoring a new event this year, the Shoe Bowl High School Football Round Robin, Aug. 18 at the University of Toledo. The group s main fund-raiser is its annual newspaper sale in December. More than $180,000 in coats and shoes were donated by the organization last year.
