OAK HARBOR, Ohio The OPTIONS for Independence program is expanding its resources in Ottawa County.
The program is available for anyone 60 or older who needs assistance to remain safely at home. Care coordinators who are licensed social workers or registered nurses will provide an at-home assessment and/or a referral for care services at no charge to the senior citizen or caregiver.
Care coordinators will soon have office hours every Tuesday and Thursday at the Ottawa County Veteran s Building, 8444 West State Rt. 163, Suite 103.
The program is able to expand through a partnership between the Ottawa County Commissioners, Ottawa County Senior Resources, and the Area Office on Aging of Northwest Ohio, and through a three-year, 0.3-mill levy passed in November, 2004, that generates $450,000 a year.
